empirica

empirica, the main contractor of NetReAct, is a research and consultancy organisation founded in 1988 and based in Bonn, Germany. The empirica communications and technology research group specialises in research and consultancy to clients in both private and public sectors in uses of new developments in information and telecommunications technology. empirica is involved in a number of international R&D projects and long standing co-operation with R&D teams and product management in key European and US companies. In recent years, empirica has been active in a large number of international socio-economic research projects in the area of

benchmarking the information society,
statistical indicator development, and has
carried out several large scale surveys in the EU (old and new members states), Accession Countries (Bulgaria and Romania), Switzerland and the US including general population surveys as well as decision maker surveys in establishments,
explored the progress made towards the information society, adoption and usage of new technologies by citizens, for business purposes, for new ways of work and in areas like education, health, etc.

Since 2001 empirica operates a well establish network of national correspondents in all EU25 member states including all new member states and the accession countries but also Switzerland, Norway and the USA. This network has been used extensively and successfully in large-scale international projects like SIBIS (www.sibis-eu.org) and is currently employed in the international projects eInclusion (www.einclusion-eu.org) and eUser (www.euser-eu.org).
